A rádio no Reino Unido

“Unlike TV, radio stations mainly construct their own programmes - even adverts - although there are a number of highly competent independent radio production companies and support service companies, including IRN (lndependent Radio News) transmitter operators, promotions companies and content information providers: I use the word ‘construct’ when referring to radio programmes because many stations in this country depend on pre-recorded music, on CD, to entertain their listeners. A large part of their output consists of playing copies of other people’s creative work, and sometimes they appear to forget the huge debt they owe to the singers and musicians whose work they use.” (24)
Serviço público: “The BBC runs five national analogue terrestrial channets: Radio l, which plays new popular music; Radio 2, older popular music and I some chat; Radio 3, classical music; Radio 4, which is mainly speech; and Radio 5, which carries news and sport. Two other stations Radios 6 and 7 - are available on digital systems” (25)
Rádio comercial: “They all deliver a local service of information and news in between the fairly limited play list of music that they specialize in. Most local stations can be described as ‘hit radio’, playing the Top 40 sounds of the day. There are a number of variations on ne theme, but most play popular music.” (31)
